Insulin Lispro-Aabc falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Ceylon leadwort root extract has been shown to both increase and decrease blood glucose levels in animal research. This effect has not yet been demonstrated in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might reduce or potentiate the effects of antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Medication dose adjustments may be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (Diabeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Lyumjev is a fast-acting mealtime insulin that lowers your blood sugar. The wrinkle with Ceylon Leadwort is that, in animal and lab studies only, it has gone both ways: sometimes raising blood sugar, sometimes lowering it. We have not seen this confirmed in people, so this is more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem.

The concern is unpredictability. If the supplement nudges your sugar lower on top of your insulin, you could see signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion. If it pushes the other way, your insulin may seem less effective. Please don't change your insulin dose on your own. If you want to try this supplement, check your glucose closely and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Ceylon Leadwort (Plumbago zeylanica) is a plant long used in Ayurvedic and other traditional medicine systems, mainly for digestion, skin problems, and pain. Solid human studies are lacking, and the plant contains plumbagin, a compound that can irritate skin and tissues and may be unsafe in larger amounts.
