Buspirone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, use of chanca piedra might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with buspirone: your body relies heavily on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it out. In lab dish studies, chanca piedra appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that effect happened in real people, buspirone could build up more than expected, which might mean stronger drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, or nausea.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. So far this is only seen in test tube research, not in actual patients, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Buspirone is already quite sensitive to CYP3A4 blockers, so it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, especially with concentrated supplement doses.

Buspirone tablets and capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or to relieve anxiety symptoms in the short term. Its effectiveness has been shown in clinical trials focused on Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — a condition marked by persistent, hard-to-control worry along with physical symptoms like muscle tension, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and sleep problems.

Buspirone has also been shown to relieve anxiety in people who have mild depressive symptoms alongside their anxiety. Everyday stress and tension, on their own, generally do not require treatment with a medicine like buspirone.
