ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine
Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that methyl brevifolincarboxylate, a constituent isolated from chanca piedra, can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for your Dristan, which combines ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) and pseudoephedrine (a decongestant). The concern centers on the ibuprofen part. Ibuprofen already makes platelets a little less sticky, so it can nudge up the risk of bruising or bleeding. In lab studies, one compound in chanca piedra also slowed platelets from clumping, so combining the two could in theory add up to a bit more bleeding tendency.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is: it's theoretical, seen only in test tubes, never confirmed in people. For most folks taking occasional Dristan, it's unlikely to be a real problem. Still, watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you take other blood thinners.

Chanca piedra is a tropical herb traditionally used as a 'stone breaker' for kidney and gallstones, and for liver and urinary health.
