Here's the gist: metaproterenol is a beta-agonist inhaler that relaxes your airways, but it can also nudge your heart to beat faster and stronger. Cola nut is basically a natural source of caffeine, which is a stimulant in its own right. When you stack a stimulant on top of a stimulant-like medicine, the two can add up. You might notice more of metaproterenol's familiar side effects, like a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, shaky hands, or feeling wired and anxious.

Keep this in perspective though. This concern is theoretical, based on how the two work in the body rather than strong human studies. A normal cup of cola or chocolate likely won't do much; concentrated cola nut supplements or lots of caffeine are what to watch. If you feel your heart fluttering or get the shakes, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
