Fever Bark + Dextroamphetamine
Dextroamphetamine brand name: Dexedrine.
Dextroamphetamine falls into 2 drug categories that Fever Bark can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, fever bark might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Fever Bark interacts with whole categories of medication. Dextroamphetamine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Fever Bark in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Dextroamphetamine
Dextroamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Fever Bark interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that yohimbine, a constituent of fever bark, inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme activity. The effects of fever bark itself are unclear.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with this pairing. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear dextroamphetamine. Fever bark contains a compound similar to yohimbine that, at least in lab tests, can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, more of the stimulant could linger in your system, which might mean a stronger or longer effect, things like a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or feeling anxious.
I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This concern comes only from test-tube studies, not from people, and the real effect of fever bark on this enzyme is unclear. Even so, fever bark's own alkaloids can raise blood pressure and heart rate, so stacking it with a stimulant gives me pause. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

STIMULANT DRUGS
2 of 2Dextroamphetamine also falls under STIMULANT DRUGS.
Reserpine, a constituent of fever bark, might increase or decrease effects of sympathomimetics. Also, yohimbine, another constituent of fever bark, has sympathomimetic effects and increases blood pressure in a dose-dependent manner. It is not known if this would occur with fever bark.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the short version: mixing fever bark with dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Xelstrym) is a bit of a wild card. Fever bark carries a mix of plant alkaloids. Some, like the yohimbine-type compounds, act like stimulants and can push your blood pressure and heart rate up. Stack that on top of a stimulant like dextroamphetamine and you could see more jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, trouble sleeping, or anxiety.
To complicate it, fever bark also contains reserpine-like compounds that can pull in the opposite direction, so it's genuinely unpredictable. I'll be honest with you: this is based on the plant's chemistry and a few anecdotes, not solid human studies. Still, because both can stress the heart, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dextroamphetamine page
“Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) is a stimulant for ADHD and narcolepsy, and I read this list with genuine wariness. Six of the 129 ingredients rate major, most of them because other stimulants, ephedra being the clearest, pile extra heart rate and blood pressure on top of what the drug already produces.”

About Fever Bark
What is Fever Bark?
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Malaria (traditional)
- Digestive complaints
- Bitter tonic
Fever bark is the bark of the Australian tree Alstonia constricta, used in traditional medicine for fever, diarrhea, and infections. There is very little reliable human research to support these uses, and the bark contains potent alkaloids that may cause serious side effects. It is best avoided unless used under direct medical supervision.
About Dextroamphetamine
What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?
Brand name: Dexedrine
Dextroamphetamine treats ADHD (also called attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity). Some oral forms are also used for narcolepsy, a sleep disorder with sudden, uncontrollable sleepiness.
Uses and age ranges differ by product. Dexedrine and dextroamphetamine extended-release capsules are used for narcolepsy and for ADHD in ages 6 to 16. Zenzedi tablets, dextroamphetamine tablets and the oral solutions (including Procentra) are used for narcolepsy and for ADHD in children ages 3 to 16. Xelstrym skin patch is used only for ADHD, in adults and children 6 and older.
