Hordenine + Albuterol
Albuterol brand names: Proventil, Volmax, Ventolin (U.S.), ProAir HFA.
We found no known interaction between Hordenine and Albuterol in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Hordenine and Albuterol
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Albuterol and Hordenine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Albuterol
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Albuterol is filed under 2 classifications — beta-adrenergic agonists, oral drugs. Hordenine has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being monoamine oxidase inhibitors (maois) (moderate), stimulant drugs (moderate) and cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates (minor) — and none of Albuterol’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Hordenine Does Interact With Other Medications
Hordenine has 180 moderate, 149 minor known drug interactions in our database — Albuterol isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

Questions About Hordenine or Albuterol
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Hordenine or Albuterol, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:
- Can You Take Dr. Berg Liver Cleanse With Albuterol? ›
- Is It Safe to Use an Expired ProAir HFA Inhaler? ›
- Lack Of Kratom Interactions With Montelukast And Albuterol Question ›
Not quite your question? Ask our pharmacists directly — it is free, there is no account required, and answers usually come back within 24 hours.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Albuterol
This page covers Hordenine only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Albuterol page lists 32 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Black Tea (moderate), Caffeine (moderate), Cocoa (moderate) and Coffee (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 22 moderate · 9 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Albuterol page
“Albuterol is a rescue drug; when an asthma attack hits, a Ventolin or ProAir inhaler has to work, which is why this list deserves a careful read rather than a skim. Of the 32 ingredients on file, activated charcoal alone is rated major, since it can soak up the drug and blunt its effect no matter how the albuterol was taken.”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Hordenine
What is Hordenine?
- Energy and stimulation
- Athletic and workout performance
- Weight loss/fat burning
- Focus and mood
- Appetite control
Hordenine is a natural alkaloid found in barley and some cacti that is marketed as a stimulant for energy, focus, and fat loss, but solid human evidence for these benefits is lacking. Its safety in people has not been well studied, so caution is warranted, and it should be avoided in pregnancy, breastfeeding, and by people with heart conditions.
Alkaloid isolated from plants such as barley sprouts and certain cacti · Capsules, tablets, powders (often in pre-workout and 'fat burner' blends)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Hordenine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Hordenine record says about it on its own.
Hordenine: dosing
There is no established, well-studied dose for hordenine. The amounts found in supplements vary widely, and they have not been tested for safety or effectiveness in proper human trials. If you choose to use a product containing hordenine, follow the label instructions and do not exceed them. Be aware that it is often mixed with caffeine and other stimulants, so the total stimulant load may be higher than it appears.

About Albuterol
What Is Albuterol Used For?
Brand names: Proventil, Volmax, Ventolin (U.S.), ProAir HFA
Albuterol is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm — sudden tightening of the airways — in adults and children with reversible obstructive airway disease, such as asthma. Most inhaled formulations (HFA inhalers, dry-powder inhalers, and nebulizer solutions) are approved for patients 4 years and older, though some nebulizer solutions are approved for children as young as 2, and the oral syrup covers adults and children 2 and older. Albuterol tablets are approved for adults and children 6 and older.
Albuterol inhaled products are also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients 4 years and older. The inhaled aerosol solution (0.5%) is approved specifically for relief of bronchospasm and acute attacks in patients 12 and older. Not every formulation covers every use — follow the instructions for the specific product you have been prescribed.

Albuterol Is Linked to Lower Levels of 2 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Albuterol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Hordenine — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
