Why this applies to Sotorasib

Sotorasib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for Lumakras (sotorasib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process sotorasib. Lab research hints that lentinan might speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, your body could clear sotorasib a little faster, which might lower the drug's levels and make it less effective at holding your cancer in check. That's the last thing you want from a treatment like this.

Now, the honest part: this is only test-tube and animal data, and it hasn't actually been seen in people. So I wouldn't panic. But since sotorasib is such an important medication, please don't add lentinan without first running it by your oncologist or pharmacist. They know your full picture and can guide you safely.

About Sotorasib

What Is Sotorasib Used For?

Brand name: Lumakras

Lumakras is used to treat adults with KRAS G12C-mutated locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have already received at least one prior cancer treatment. This use was approved under the FDA's accelerated approval pathway based on tumor response rates, and continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory trials.

Lumakras is also used in combination with panitumumab to treat adults with KRAS G12C-mutated metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) who have previously received certain chemotherapy regimens. In both cases, patients must first be confirmed to carry the KRAS G12C mutation using an FDA-approved test.
