Moringa + Vincristine
Vincristine brand name: Vincasar.
Vincristine falls into 2 drug categories that Moringa can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Moringa interacts with whole categories of medication. Vincristine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Moringa in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Vincristine
Vincristine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture: your body clears vincristine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and moringa might nudge that enzyme in either direction. In lab dishes, some studies show moringa slowing this enzyme (which could let vincristine build up, raising the risk of side effects like nerve tingling, numbness, constipation, or low blood counts), while other lab work shows it speeding the enzyme up (which could weaken the chemo). We just don't know which wins in real people.
This is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, and one human study with a different drug showed no real change. Still, since vincristine is potent chemotherapy with little room for error, please run any moringa supplement past your oncology team before using it.

P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Vincristine also falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that moringa leaf extract inhibits renal P-glycoprotein transport activity. So far, this reaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea with moringa and vincristine. Your body uses a kind of cellular pump called P-glycoprotein to move vincristine around and help clear it. Lab and animal studies suggest concentrated moringa leaf extract might slow that pump down. If that happened in a person, more vincristine could linger in the body, which could mean stronger effects and more side effects, things like nerve problems (tingling, numbness, weakness, constipation) or a bigger drop in blood counts.
I want to be honest though: this is theoretical. It has only been seen in the lab, never reported in real patients, and small food amounts of moringa are unlikely to matter. Still, vincristine is potent chemo with a narrow safety margin, so please run any moringa supplement past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Vincristine page
“Because vincristine (Vincasar) is chemotherapy, used against leukemias, lymphomas, and several other cancers, the interactions on this page deserve genuine caution, starting with the three rated major. Nearly all of these supplements change how the body clears vincristine, through the CYP3A4 enzyme or the P-glycoprotein transporter, wh…”

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
About Vincristine Injection
What Is Vincristine Injection Used For?
Brand name: Vincasar
Vincristine Sulfate Injection is approved to treat acute leukemia. It is also used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens for Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas, rhabdomyosarcoma (a soft-tissue cancer), neuroblastoma (a cancer of nerve tissue), and Wilms' tumor (a kidney cancer in children).
Because it works best alongside other cancer medicines, vincristine is almost always given as part of a multi-drug treatment plan rather than on its own.
