Here's the short version: tiratricol acts like a thyroid hormone, and thyroid hormones can rev up your metabolism in ways that may push blood sugar higher. If that happens, your usual dose of insulin glargine (Basaglar, Lusduna, Semglee) might not hold your numbers as steady as before, so you could see higher readings and need a dose change managed by your doctor.

I want to be honest about the strength of this concern. It's theoretical, based on how related thyroid hormones behave, and we don't actually know if tiratricol does the same thing. The bigger issue is tiratricol itself. The FDA has warned against it because of real heart and thyroid risks, so please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before going anywhere near it.

Tiratricol (also called TRIAC) is a powerful synthetic thyroid hormone metabolite, not a natural herb, and it has been illegally added to some weight-loss and bodybuilding supplements. It can cause serious heart and thyroid problems, and the U.S. FDA has warned consumers not to use products containing it. It is not a safe or approved dietary supplement, and you should avoid it.

What Is Insulin Glargine (rDNA origin) Injection Used For?

Brand names: Basaglar, Lusduna, Semglee

Insulin glargine is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, and in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a long-acting insulin that works around the clock to help keep blood sugar levels stable.

Insulin glargine is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes acidic due to very high blood sugar).
