Glyburide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.

Here's the simple version: glyburide works by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin so your blood sugar comes down. Tiratricol acts like thyroid hormone, and thyroid hormones tend to rev up your metabolism and can push blood sugar up. So in theory, tiratricol could work against glyburide and make it harder to keep your numbers in range, possibly leading to higher readings.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these substances behave, not something proven with glyburide specifically. The bigger issue, frankly, is that tiratricol itself is not a safe or approved supplement and the FDA has warned against it because of serious heart and thyroid risks. I'd steer clear of it and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using anything that contains it.

What Is Glyburide Used For?

Brand names: Diabeta, Micronase, Glynase, Glycron, Micronized, Glynase PresTab, Albert Glyburide

Glyburide tablets are used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the body produces dangerous levels of acids called ketones).

Glyburide may be used alone or combined with metformin when metformin alone is not enough. It can also be used to help transition patients who are moving from insulin or other diabetes pills to a new regimen, under a doctor's guidance.
