Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.

Here's the short version: tiratricol acts a lot like your natural thyroid hormone, and thyroid hormones tend to push your blood sugar up. If you're using human insulin to manage diabetes, that means your usual dose might not control your numbers as well, and in theory you could need more insulin to keep things in range. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based on how the drug behaves rather than solid studies in people.

The bigger issue here is the tiratricol itself. It's not a safe or approved supplement, and the FDA has warned people away from it because of serious heart and thyroid risks. Please don't change your insulin on your own. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using any product that contains this ingredient.

Novolin (human insulin injection) is used to improve glycemic control — meaning blood sugar management — in adults and children with diabetes mellitus.

Novolin 70/30 is a fixed-ratio mixture of intermediate-acting and short-acting human insulin. Because the ratio is fixed, it cannot be adjusted separately for background (basal) or mealtime (prandial) needs.
