Alogliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might interfere with blood glucose control.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones, such as levothyroxine, which can interfere with blood glucose control and necessitate adjustment of diabetes drug therapy. It is not known if tiratricol has these effects.

Here's the short version: Tiratricol acts a lot like thyroid hormone, and thyroid hormones can nudge your blood sugar upward. Alogliptin (Nesina) works the opposite way, helping your body release more of its own insulin to keep blood sugar in check. So in theory, tiratricol could partly work against alogliptin and make it harder to keep your numbers where you want them.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical, based on how these substances behave, not on real studies in people. We genuinely don't know if tiratricol does this. The bigger concern, frankly, is that tiratricol itself is an unapproved, risky product the FDA has warned against. Please don't change your alogliptin, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using anything containing tiratricol.

What Is Alogliptin Used For?

Brand name: Nesina

Alogliptin tablets — sold under the brand names Alogliptin and Nesina — are used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Alogliptin is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, as it would not be effective in those situations.
