Treprostinil falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tiratricol interacts with.

Theoretically, tiratricol might increase the hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants.
Tiratricol is related to thyroid hormones such as levothyroxine. The hypoprothrombinemic effects of oral anticoagulants, including warfarin (Coumadin), are increased by levothyroxine due to increased catabolism of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors. It is not known if tiratricol has a similar effect.

Here's an honest heads-up: the interaction on file was really built around blood thinners like warfarin, where thyroid-type compounds can ramp up the breakdown of clotting factors and raise bleeding risk. Treprostinil (Orenitram) isn't a true blood thinner, though. It's a prostacyclin medication used for pulmonary arterial hypertension, and it does have some antiplatelet (anti-clumping) activity, which is why it landed in this category.

So this pairing is more theoretical than proven. The bigger concern with tiratricol is that it's an illegal, unapproved thyroid-like substance the FDA warns against, and it can strain your heart. Combined with treprostinil, which can already cause flushing, headache, and low blood pressure, that's a risky mix. Please don't use tiratricol, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before adding anything.

Tiratricol (also called TRIAC) is a powerful synthetic thyroid hormone metabolite, not a natural herb, and it has been illegally added to some weight-loss and bodybuilding supplements. It can cause serious heart and thyroid problems, and the U.S. FDA has warned consumers not to use products containing it. It is not a safe or approved dietary supplement, and you should avoid it.

About Treprostinil

What Is Treprostinil Used For?

Treprostinil treats pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. Depending on the product and route, it is used to improve exercise ability, delay disease progression, or reduce symptoms tied to physical activity. Remodulin and treprostinil injection products are also indicated for patients who need to transition away from another PAH medicine called epoprostenol.

Tyvaso, Tyvaso DPI, and Yutrepia (inhaled forms) are additionally approved to treat pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3) — lung-pressure problems caused by scarring or inflammation in the lung tissue itself. Orenitram (extended-release oral tablet) is specifically indicated to delay disease progression and improve exercise capacity in PAH.
