In vitro, uva ursi appears to inhibit cytochrome CYP2C19. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the situation with esomeprazole, which is the acid-blocking medicine that helps with heartburn and reflux. Your body partly clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP2C19. In lab dish studies, uva ursi seemed to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in people, your body might break down esomeprazole a little more slowly, leaving slightly more of it in your system. Esomeprazole is generally well tolerated, so this usually wouldn't be a big deal, though you could in theory notice more of its common effects like headache, nausea, or stomach upset.

The key thing to know: this is only a theoretical concern seen in test tubes, never reported in real patients. Still, since uva ursi is only meant for short-term use, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the gist for esomeprazole, which is the acid-reducing medicine in this strontium version. In a lab dish, uva ursi seemed to slow down an enzyme called CYP3A4, one of the pathways your liver uses to clear esomeprazole. If that happened in people, esomeprazole could build up a bit and hang around longer, which in theory might mean more of its usual effects, things like headache, nausea, gas, or diarrhea.

The honest truth is this is only a test-tube finding, never confirmed in humans, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Esomeprazole is also mostly cleared by a different enzyme, so CYP3A4 plays a smaller role. Still, if you're planning to use uva ursi, run it past your pharmacist or doctor first, especially since the herb itself is meant only for short-term use.
