Bendamustine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, chanca piedra might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract increases CYP1A2 activity. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for bendamustine (Bendeka): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break this chemo drug down. Lab studies (in test tubes, not people) suggest chanca piedra may speed that enzyme up. If that held true in the body, your system could clear bendamustine a little faster, which in theory might mean a bit less of the cancer-fighting punch you're counting on.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. It's theoretical only and has never been reported in real patients. Still, with a chemotherapy drug, I don't take chances. Please don't start chanca piedra without first checking with your oncology team or pharmacist so they can weigh it for your specific treatment.

About Bendamustine Injection

What Is Bendamustine Injection Used For?

Brand name: Bendeka

Bendamustine hydrochloride injection is used to treat adults with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). It is also used for adults with indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) — a slow-growing type of blood cancer — when the disease has continued to progress during or within six months of treatment with rituximab or a rituximab-containing regimen.

For CLL, how well bendamustine works compared to other first-line treatments (aside from chlorambucil) has not been fully established.
