Venetoclax falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, use of chanca piedra might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear venetoclax. In lab tests, chanca piedra appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in a person, less venetoclax would get cleared and more could build up in your blood, which may mean a higher chance of its known side effects, like low blood counts, infections, nausea, diarrhea, and tiredness.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this is only a test-tube finding and has never actually been reported in people taking chanca piedra. Still, venetoclax is a serious cancer medicine with real CYP3A4 cautions already, so I would not combine the two on your own. Please run it past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Venetoclax

What Is Venetoclax Used For?

Brand name: Venclexta

Venetoclax treats two types of blood cancers: chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) in adults. It can be used alone or in combination with other medicines such as obinutuzumab, rituximab, or acalabrutinib.

Venclexta is also used in combination with azacitidine, decitabine, or low-dose cytarabine for newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adults aged 75 or older, or in adults who cannot tolerate intensive chemotherapy due to other health conditions.
