STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Dexbrompheniramine, Pseudoephedrine
Acetaminophen, Dexbrompheniramine, Pseudoephedrine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Cola Nut interacts with.
Cola nut contains caffeine. Due to the central nervous system (CNS) stimulant effects of caffeine, concomitant use with stimulant drugs can increase the risk of adverse effects.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
The piece of this combination product that matters here is the pseudoephedrine, the decongestant. It is already a stimulant, so it can speed up your heart and nudge your blood pressure up a bit. Cola nut is basically a natural source of caffeine, another stimulant. Stack the two and you may simply feel more wired than you bargained for.
Realistically that could mean a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, feeling restless, or a mild bump in blood pressure. This is an expert-opinion, theoretical caution rather than something proven in studies, and a cup of cola-flavored soda is unlikely to be a problem. Concentrated cola nut supplements are the bigger concern, especially if you have heart issues or high blood pressure. If you want to use both, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Acetaminophen, Dexbrompheniramine, Pseudoephedrine page
“Sinadrin Plus (acetaminophen, dexbrompheniramine, and pseudoephedrine) deserves real care around supplements, mostly because pseudoephedrine is a stimulant and acetaminophen taxes the liver. Nine of the 217 ingredients on file carry a major rating, and they cluster around those two risks: ephedra and similar herbs can pile onto the sti…”
