These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Cola Nut interacts with whole categories of medication. Brompheniramine, Phenylephrine, Phenylpropanolamine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Cola Nut in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
STIMULANT DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Brompheniramine, Phenylephrine, Phenylpropanolamine
Brompheniramine, Phenylephrine, Phenylpropanolamine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Cola Nut interacts with.
Cola nut contains caffeine. Due to the central nervous system (CNS) stimulant effects of caffeine, concomitant use with stimulant drugs can increase the risk of adverse effects.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version. This combo product contains phenylephrine and phenylpropanolamine, which are decongestants that already give your system a little stimulant push (they can bump up heart rate and blood pressure). Cola nut is basically a natural source of caffeine, another stimulant. Stacking two stimulants together can pile on the same kind of effects.
So with both on board, you might feel more jittery, restless, or anxious, notice a faster or pounding heartbeat, trouble sleeping, or a rise in blood pressure. This is mostly a theoretical, common-sense concern rather than something proven in studies, and an occasional cola drink is unlikely to be a big deal. Still, if you have heart issues or high blood pressure, check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them regularly.

PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE
2 of 2Brompheniramine, Phenylephrine, Phenylpropanolamine also falls under PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE.
Cola nut contains caffeine. Concomitant use of phenylpropanolamine and caffeine might cause an additive increase in blood pressure. Phenylpropanolamine also seems to increase caffeine serum levels.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
This combination product contains phenylpropanolamine and phenylephrine, two decongestant-type stimulants that can nudge your blood pressure and heart rate upward on their own. Cola nut adds a real dose of caffeine, which is also a stimulant. Put them together and the effects can stack up, so you may notice a bigger rise in blood pressure, a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, headache, or trouble sleeping.
There's another twist: phenylpropanolamine appears to slow how your body clears caffeine, so the caffeine from cola nut can build up and hit harder than usual. The evidence here is moderate and partly theoretical, but the direction is consistent. If you have high blood pressure or any heart concerns, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing these.
