Here's the simple version: this combo cold and allergy product contains phenylephrine, a decongestant that mildly bumps up your heart rate and blood pressure. Cola nut is basically a natural source of caffeine, which does much the same thing. Stack the two together and those stimulant effects can pile up.

What that might feel like is a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, restlessness, or a touch higher blood pressure. To be honest, this is mostly a theoretical concern based on expert opinion rather than hard studies, and a cup of cola flavored soda likely won't matter much. But concentrated cola nut supplements plus your usual coffee could add up, especially if you have heart issues or high blood pressure. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
