Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
BETA-ADRENERGIC AGONISTS
Why this applies to Levalbuterol
Levalbuterol falls under BETA-ADRENERGIC AGONISTS — the group Cola Nut interacts with.
Cola nut contains caffeine. Theoretically, concomitant use of large amounts of caffeine might increase the cardiac inotropic effects of beta-agonists.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Levalbuterol (Xopenex) is a fast-acting inhaler that opens up your airways when you're wheezing or short of breath. One thing some people notice is a bit of a buzzy feeling afterward, like a faster heartbeat, mild jitters, or a touch of shakiness. Cola nut is basically a natural caffeine source, and caffeine is its own stimulant.
So the concern here is simple stacking: putting two stimulant-like effects together. In theory, large amounts of caffeine from cola nut could add to those heart-related and jittery effects of levalbuterol. Keep in mind this is a theoretical interaction based on how the two work, not strong human studies. A regular cup of coffee or soda is unlikely to be a big deal, but concentrated cola nut supplements are worth running by your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you have a heart condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Levalbuterol page
“Almost the entire interaction list for levalbuterol (Xopenex) comes down to caffeine. The inhaler already gives the heart a mild stimulant nudge while it opens the airways, and large amounts of caffeine, whether from everyday drinks or herbal energy ingredients, can amplify that push into a racing or pounding heartbeat.”

About Cola Nut
What is Cola Nut?
- Energy and alertness
- Mental focus
- Physical performance
- Weight loss support
- Traditional digestive aid
Cola nut is a caffeine-containing seed from West Africa used mainly as a natural stimulant for energy and alertness. Most of its effects come from caffeine, and strong human evidence for specific health benefits is limited. Because of its caffeine content, people sensitive to stimulants and those who are pregnant or have heart conditions should be cautious.
