Here's the simple version: both dexamfetamine and ephedra are stimulants, and stacking two stimulants together is like pressing the gas pedal twice. Dexamfetamine already revs up your nervous system, raising heart rate and blood pressure and sometimes causing jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or a racing or pounding heartbeat. Ephedra (which contains ephedrine) does the same kind of thing.

Put them together and those effects can pile up, which is why this combo is rated as a serious concern. The worry is dangerously high blood pressure, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or in rare cases a stroke. On top of that, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for safety reasons. Please don't combine these on your own. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
