Here's the concern with combining these two. Tagraxofusp-erzs (Elzonris) can be hard on the liver. One of its most serious known risks is something called capillary leak syndrome, but liver enzyme elevations and liver injury are also well documented with this cancer treatment. Ephedra-containing products have their own track record of causing liver damage in some people.

So the worry is simple: two things that can each stress the liver, stacked together, might add up to more liver harm. This is a theoretical concern based on how each works, not something proven for this exact pair, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for good reason. Please don't pair it with your treatment without talking to your oncology team first.

What Is Tagraxofusp-erzs Injection Used For?

Brand name: Elzonris

  • Tagraxofusp-erzs injection is used to treat blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN; a blood cancer that causes skin lesions, and may spread to the bone marrow and lymphatic system) in adults and children 2 years of age and older. Tagraxofusp-erzs is in a class of medications called CD123 cytotoxin. It works by killing cancer cells.
