These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Hordenine interacts with whole categories of medication. Hydrocodone, Pseudoephedrine, Chlorpheniramine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Hordenine in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
STIMULANT DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Hydrocodone, Pseudoephedrine, Chlorpheniramine
Hydrocodone, Pseudoephedrine, Chlorpheniramine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Hordenine interacts with.
Some of these drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, methylphenidate, pseudoephedrine, and many others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The piece of Zutripro that matters most here is the pseudoephedrine, which is a decongestant with built-in stimulant properties. Hordenine is also a mild stimulant that nudges up norepinephrine, your body's 'fight-or-flight' messenger. Stack two stimulants together and you can theoretically push the cardiovascular system harder than either alone, raising the odds of a higher blood pressure, a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, and trouble sleeping.
I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's based on how these compounds behave on paper, not on solid human studies, so it's a 'possible' concern rather than a proven one. Still, if you have any heart issues or high blood pressure, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Hydrocodone, Pseudoephedrine, Chlorpheniramine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES.
Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's a wrinkle worth knowing about this combo product (Zutripro). The hydrocodone part is actually a prodrug in one sense: an enzyme called CYP2D6 converts it into hydromorphone, which is part of how it relieves pain. Hordenine has only been shown to weakly block CYP2D6 in lab dishes, not in people. In theory, blocking that enzyme could shift how much hydrocodone gets converted, which makes the pain-relief picture a little unpredictable.
Honestly, this is a minor, theoretical concern based on test-tube data, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Hordenine is also a mild stimulant, and stacking it with the pseudoephedrine here could add to jitteriness, a racing heart, or trouble sleeping. That part is more worth watching. Run it by your pharmacist before combining them, especially if you have any heart issues.

About Hordenine
What is Hordenine?
- Energy and stimulation
- Athletic and workout performance
- Weight loss/fat burning
- Focus and mood
- Appetite control
Hordenine is a natural alkaloid found in barley and some cacti that is marketed as a stimulant for energy, focus, and fat loss, but solid human evidence for these benefits is lacking. Its safety in people has not been well studied, so caution is warranted, and it should be avoided in pregnancy, breastfeeding, and by people with heart conditions.
