Dolutegravir falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.

Theoretically, moringa leaf extract might increase the levels and clinical effects of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that moringa leaf extract inhibits renal P-glycoprotein transport activity. So far, this reaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with moringa and your HIV medicine dolutegravir (Tivicay). Dolutegravir is partly moved around the body by a transporter called P-glycoprotein. In lab dishes, moringa leaf extract slowed that transporter down. In theory, blocking it could let a bit more dolutegravir build up in your system, which might mean slightly stronger effects or more side effects like headache, nausea, trouble sleeping, or unusual tiredness.

The honest part: this is only a test-tube finding, and it has never actually been reported in people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Food-amounts of moringa in cooking are far less concerning than concentrated capsules. Still, because keeping HIV controlled is so important, please run any moringa supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Dolutegravir

What Is Dolutegravir Used For?

Brand name: Tivicay

Dolutegravir — sold as Tivicay and Tivicay PD — is used in combination with other HIV medicines to treat HIV-1 infection. It is approved for adults who are new to treatment or who have taken HIV medicines before, and for children who are at least 4 weeks old and meet minimum weight requirements, as long as they have not previously taken an integrase inhibitor.

Tivicay (the tablet form) has an additional use: it can be paired with rilpivirine as a complete two-drug regimen for adults whose HIV is already well controlled (viral load under 50 copies/mL) on a stable regimen for at least 6 months, with no history of treatment failure or resistance to either drug.
