Flupenthixol is an antipsychotic that can already make some people feel drowsy or mentally slowed. Tree turmeric, thanks to its berberine, has shown sedative effects in animal studies. So the concern here is simple: stacking the two together could add up and leave you feeling more sleepy, foggy, or sluggish than usual.

Keep this in perspective. This interaction is theoretical and based only on animal research, so we don't have solid human proof it happens. Still, it's worth being aware of, especially when you're driving or starting either one. If you'd like to try tree turmeric, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch for extra drowsiness. Don't change your flupenthixol on your own.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, can inhibit CYP2D6.

Here's the gist for flupenthixol, an antipsychotic used for schizophrenia and sometimes depression. Your liver leans on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear this medicine out. The berberine in tree turmeric appears to slow that enzyme down, so flupenthixol could build up a bit more than usual instead of being broken down at its normal pace.

If levels creep up, you might notice stronger side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, restlessness, muscle stiffness, or tremor. To be clear, this is mostly based on lab work and early human data, so it's a possible concern, not a sure thing, and food-level amounts are less likely to matter than concentrated supplements. Before adding it, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
