Here's the simple version. Flurazepam is a sleep medication that works by calming down your brain so you can drift off. Yerba mate is loaded with caffeine, which does the opposite, it wakes your brain up. So the two are basically pulling in different directions. Caffeine could blunt how well flurazepam helps you fall asleep and stay asleep, leaving you tossing and turning.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's mostly based on how these things work in theory, not strong studies. Still, it makes good sense to avoid yerba mate (and other caffeine) in the evening near your bedtime dose. If your sleep isn't improving, chat with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What Is Flurazepam Used For?

Flurazepam Hydrochloride capsules are used to treat insomnia. Specifically, they help with difficulty falling asleep, frequent wake-ups during the night, and early morning awakening.

Because insomnia is often short-lived, flurazepam is generally intended for short-term use. If sleep problems don't improve within 7 to 10 days of treatment, a healthcare provider should evaluate whether an underlying medical or psychiatric condition may be the cause.
