Here's the simple version: yerba mate is basically a caffeine drink, and amphetamine sulfate (Evekeo, the old Benzedrine) is already a strong stimulant. When you stack two stimulants on top of each other, their effects can pile up. That's the whole concern here. It's not that mate changes how your body breaks down the medicine, it's that both rev up your nervous system at the same time.

So what might you actually feel? Things like a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or a higher blood pressure. This is more of an expert-opinion, makes-sense-on-paper caution than a proven danger, and an occasional cup is different from drinking a lot daily. If you take this medication regularly, just check with your pharmacist or doctor about how much mate is reasonable for you.
