Here's the gist with Glucovance (that's glyburide plus metformin) and yerba mate. The caffeine in mate may nudge your blood sugar a little, and honestly the reports go both ways: sometimes up, sometimes down. So in theory it could make your diabetes numbers a touch less predictable. This is a minor concern, the evidence is weak, and a problem is considered unlikely.

What I'd watch for is the glyburide side of things, since it can lower blood sugar enough to cause shakiness, sweating, or dizziness. If you drink mate regularly, just keep an eye on your readings and stay consistent. An occasional cup is unlikely to cause trouble, but chat with your pharmacist or doctor before making it a daily habit.

Here's the gist with your Glucovance (which combines glyburide and metformin) and yerba mate. This isn't really about your blood sugar pills affecting your sugar levels. Instead, the metformin part may slow down how your body clears the caffeine that's naturally in yerba mate. If that caffeine lingers longer, you might feel more of its usual punch, things like jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's theoretical, based on animal studies, and hasn't actually been seen in people. So please don't worry. If you notice extra caffeine buzz on mate days, just ease back on the amount and mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.
