Vilazodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group 1,3-dmba interacts with.

Theoretically, 1,3-DMBA might modestly increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that 1,3-DMBA weakly inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes.

Here's the gist for Viibryd (vilazodone): in lab studies, 1,3-DMBA appears to weakly block CYP2D6, one of the liver enzymes that helps clear certain drugs. Vilazodone is an active medicine (not a prodrug that needs switching on), so if that enzyme slows down a bit, slightly more of the drug could linger. In theory that might nudge up common side effects like nausea, diarrhea, headache, trouble sleeping, or feeling jittery.

That said, this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding, the blocking effect is weak, and CYP2D6 is a minor pathway for vilazodone, so any real-world impact is likely small. My bigger concern is the stimulant itself, since 1,3-DMBA carries serious heart and stroke risks and is best avoided. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Vilazodone is not approved for use in children or teenagers. Its safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients.
