Omeprazole, Sodium Bicarbonate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Ceylon Leadwort interacts with.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9. Drugs that are metabolized by CYP2C9 include celecoxib (Celebrex), diclofenac (Voltaren), fluvastatin (Lescol), glipizide (Glucotrol), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), irbesartan (Avapro), losartan (Cozaar), phenytoin (Dilantin), piroxicam (Feldene), tamoxifen (Nolvadex), tolbutamide (Tolinase), torsemide (Demadex), and S-warfarin (Coumadin).

Here's the basic idea: a compound in Ceylon Leadwort called plumbagin can slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Your omeprazole (the active ingredient in Konvomep) does lean partly on that enzyme to be cleared, so in theory the supplement could let a bit more omeprazole build up. That might mean slightly stronger effects or a touch more of the usual annoyances like headache, gas, or stomach upset.

But here's the honest part: this is only based on lab dish studies, not real people, and it has never been reported in humans. Omeprazole also has other clearance pathways, so the real-world impact is likely small. Still, since the supplement itself isn't well studied, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before combining them.

Plumbagin, a constituent of Ceylon leadwort, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in vitro. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Theoretically, Ceylon leadwort might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4. Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), indinavir (Crixivan), sildenafil (Viagra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist with Konvomep (omeprazole plus sodium bicarbonate). Omeprazole is partly broken down by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The plumbagin in Ceylon Leadwort has slowed down that enzyme in lab dishes, so in theory it could let omeprazole linger a bit longer and build up. That might mean slightly stronger effects or more of the usual omeprazole complaints like headache, nausea, gas, or stomach upset.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this has only been seen in test-tube studies, never in actual people, so the real-world risk is likely small. Still, if you're thinking about using this supplement alongside your Konvomep, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first. And remember Ceylon Leadwort itself can be irritating in larger amounts.
