Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to keep an eye on with your aspirin and codeine combo: the aspirin part already thins the blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping. In lab dish studies, one compound found in chanca piedra also seemed to slow platelet clumping. Stack the two together and, in theory, you might bruise more easily or bleed a little longer from a cut, nosebleed, or stomach upset.

I want to be honest, though, this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not something proven in real people. Food-level exposure is one thing, but concentrated supplement doses are where I'd be more cautious. Before combining them, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you've ever had stomach ulcers or bleeding.

About Chanca Piedra

What is Chanca Piedra?

Chanca Piedra
  • Kidney stones
  • Gallstones
  • Liver support
  • Urinary tract health
  • Digestive complaints

Chanca piedra is a tropical herb traditionally used as a 'stone breaker' for kidney and gallstones, and for liver and urinary health. Human evidence for these uses is limited and mostly small or preliminary, so it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a medical condition or take medications.
