In vitro research shows that chanca piedra extract increases CYP1A2 activity. Theoretically, chanca piedra might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: the caffeine part of this medicine is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In lab dish studies, chanca piedra seems to speed that enzyme up. If that held true in people, it could mean caffeine gets broken down a little faster, so you might notice less of its usual pick-me-up effect, less alertness, and less of that wired feeling.

I want to be straight with you, though: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, and it has never actually been reported in real patients. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, especially if you take this medicine for a specific medical reason.

Here's the short version: this concern is mostly theoretical. In lab dishes, chanca piedra slows down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, and some medicines lean on that enzyme to be cleared from your body. If clearance slows, drug levels can creep up. With caffeine and sodium benzoate, though, caffeine is actually broken down mainly by a different enzyme (CYP1A2), so CYP3A4 plays only a minor role. That makes a big real-world effect unlikely.

Still, if you took both and noticed extra caffeine-type symptoms like jitteriness, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge, that's worth mentioning. This hasn't been reported in people, and no human studies confirm it. Before combining them, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.
