These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Coffee interacts with whole categories of medication. Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Coffee in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine
Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Coffee interacts with.
Coffee contains caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. Theoretically, the caffeine in coffee might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with these agents. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans. There is some evidence that caffeinated coffee might increase the fibrinolytic activity in blood.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist with your Dristan (which combines ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine) and your coffee. In lab and animal studies, the caffeine in coffee has shown a mild blood-thinning, anti-platelet effect. On paper, pairing that with ibuprofen, which already nudges platelets and can irritate the stomach, could in theory add up to a slightly higher bleeding risk. But honestly, this has never actually been reported in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
One thing I'd watch more closely is the combo of caffeine plus the pseudoephedrine. Both are stimulants, so together they can leave you feeling jittery, raise your heart rate, or make sleep harder. If you notice a racing heart, stomach upset, or any unusual bruising, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

STIMULANT DRUGS
2 of 2Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine also falls under STIMULANT DRUGS.
Coffee contains caffeine. Due to the central nervous system (CNS) stimulant effects of caffeine, concomitant use with stimulant drugs can increase the risk of adverse effects.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combo product. The pseudoephedrine part is a decongestant that already acts like a mild stimulant. It can speed up your heart, raise your blood pressure a bit, and leave some folks feeling wired or jittery. Coffee's caffeine pushes in the same direction, so stacking the two can add up.
When you have both at once, you may notice a faster or pounding heartbeat, restlessness, trouble sleeping, or feeling shaky and anxious. This is based mostly on expert opinion rather than hard studies, so it's not a dangerous reaction for most healthy people, just something to be aware of. The ibuprofen piece isn't really the concern here. If you tend to be caffeine-sensitive, have high blood pressure, or notice your heart racing, ease up on the coffee while taking this and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

Coffee is a widely consumed beverage made from roasted coffee beans, valued mainly for its caffeine, which boosts alertness and energy.
