Here's the honest picture: your morning coffee and your sitagliptin (Januvia) don't really clash in any direct way. Sitagliptin isn't a prodrug, and caffeine doesn't speed up or slow down how your body clears it. So the medication itself keeps working the same whether or not you have a cup.

The only thing on file is that caffeine itself can nudge blood sugar a little, sometimes up, sometimes down, and the evidence for this is weak and mostly theoretical. With sitagliptin lowering your sugar gently, large amounts of caffeine could in theory make your readings a touch more unpredictable, but a normal cup or two is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you notice odd glucose numbers, mention your coffee habits to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What Is Sitagliptin Used For?

Brand names: Januvia, Zituvio

Sitagliptin is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is available as tablets (Januvia, Zituvio, and generic sitagliptin products) and as an oral solution (Brynovin), all approved for this same use.

Sitagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes. It has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis, so its safety in that group is unknown.
