Coffee + Desipramine
Desipramine brand names: Norpramin, Desipramine, Pertofrane.
Coffee has a minor interaction with Desipramine. Theoretically, TCAs might bind with coffee constituents when taken at the same time.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS (TCAs)
Why this applies to Desipramine
Desipramine falls under TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS (TCAs) — the group Coffee interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that the tannins in coffee might cause precipitation of TCAs. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: this is a very minor, mostly theoretical concern. In a lab dish, the tannins in coffee can bind to tricyclic antidepressants like desipramine and make them clump together. The worry is that if this happened in your stomach, a little less of the medicine might get absorbed, which could in theory make it work a bit less well for your mood. The good news? This has never actually been reported to cause problems in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
If you want to be extra cautious, you can simply take your desipramine with water and enjoy your coffee a little later. There's no need to give up your morning cup, but check with your pharmacist or doctor if you have any concerns.

About Coffee
What is Coffee?
- Alertness and reducing fatigue
- Mental focus and concentration
- Athletic performance
- Headache relief
- Weight management
Coffee is a widely consumed beverage made from roasted coffee beans, valued mainly for its caffeine, which boosts alertness and energy. For most healthy adults, moderate coffee intake is generally safe and may have some health benefits, but too much can cause jitteriness, poor sleep, and a faster heartbeat. People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or sensitive to caffeine should limit their intake and check with a doctor or pharmacist.

Desipramine Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Desipramine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Coffee — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
