Coffee + Lofepramine
Lofepramine brand names: Feprapax, Lomont, Gamanil, Tymelyt.
Coffee has a minor interaction with Lofepramine. Theoretically, TCAs might bind with coffee constituents when taken at the same time.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS (TCAs)
Why this applies to Lofepramine
Lofepramine falls under TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANTS (TCAs) — the group Coffee interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that the tannins in coffee might cause precipitation of TCAs. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Lofepramine and your morning coffee. This is a very minor, mostly theoretical concern. In a lab setting, the tannins in coffee can bind to tricyclic antidepressants like lofepramine and cause them to clump together (precipitate) in the test tube. The worry is that if this happened in your stomach, a little less of the medicine might get absorbed, which could in theory blunt how well it works for your mood.
But here's the reassuring part: this has never actually been reported in real people, and the evidence comes only from test-tube studies. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you want to be extra cautious, simply space your coffee an hour or two apart from your dose. Don't change anything without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

About Coffee
What is Coffee?
- Alertness and reducing fatigue
- Mental focus and concentration
- Athletic performance
- Headache relief
- Weight management
Coffee is a widely consumed beverage made from roasted coffee beans, valued mainly for its caffeine, which boosts alertness and energy. For most healthy adults, moderate coffee intake is generally safe and may have some health benefits, but too much can cause jitteriness, poor sleep, and a faster heartbeat. People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or sensitive to caffeine should limit their intake and check with a doctor or pharmacist.

Lofepramine Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Lofepramine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Coffee — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
