Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist with Combogesic (acetaminophen plus ibuprofen) and cola nut. The caffeine in cola nut has shown a mild blood-thinning, antiplatelet effect in lab studies. Ibuprofen, on its own, can already make platelets a little less sticky and can irritate the stomach lining, so the theory is that combining the two might slightly nudge up your bleeding risk.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and comes only from lab work, never reported in real people. For most folks the combination won't cause a problem, especially with everyday amounts. Still, if you take Combogesic regularly or notice things like easy bruising, dark stools, or a stomach that's bothering you, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

  • Traditional digestive aid

Cola nut is a caffeine-containing seed from West Africa used mainly as a natural stimulant for energy and alertness.
