ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Pazopanib
Pazopanib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Cola Nut interacts with.
Cola nut contains caffeine. Caffeine is reported to have antiplatelet activity. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist for combining cola nut with your pazopanib (Votrient). Pazopanib can already nudge up your bleeding risk on its own, and cola nut's caffeine is thought to have a mild blood-thinning (antiplatelet) effect. Put together, the concern is that bleeding might be a little more likely. In practice that could look like easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop.
I want to be honest about how soft this concern is. It's based on lab work, not real people, and it's rated unlikely to actually happen. A casual cola or chocolate is very different from a concentrated cola nut supplement. Still, since pazopanib already affects bleeding, it's worth a quick chat with your oncology team or pharmacist before adding a stimulant supplement.

About Cola Nut
What is Cola Nut?
- Energy and alertness
- Mental focus
- Physical performance
- Weight loss support
- Traditional digestive aid
Cola nut is a caffeine-containing seed from West Africa used mainly as a natural stimulant for energy and alertness. Most of its effects come from caffeine, and strong human evidence for specific health benefits is limited. Because of its caffeine content, people sensitive to stimulants and those who are pregnant or have heart conditions should be cautious.
About Pazopanib
What Is Pazopanib Used For?
Brand name: Votrient
Pazopanib tablets — sold as the brand Votrient and as generic pazopanib — are used to treat two types of advanced cancer in adults: advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), the most common form of kidney cancer, and advanced soft tissue sarcoma (STS) in patients who have already received prior chemotherapy.
Important limitation: Pazopanib has not been shown to work in adipocytic soft tissue sarcoma (a subtype involving fat cells) or in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), so it is not used for those cancers.
