Entrectinib falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Ephedra interacts with.

Theoretically, ephedra might have an additive effect with drugs that prolong the QT interval.
Even in healthy volunteers, EKG changes including prolonged QT interval and premature atrial contractions have been reported with ingestion of recommended doses of ephedra. Ephedra may have an additive effect with drugs that prolong the QT interval. This may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias.

Here's the concern with mixing these two. Entrectinib (Rozlytrek) is one of those cancer medicines that can stretch out the heart's electrical reset time, something we call the QT interval. Ephedra, because of its stimulant compounds like ephedrine, can do the same thing on its own, even at the doses people once took. Put them together and those effects can stack up.

When the QT interval gets too long, it raises the risk of a dangerous, irregular heartbeat. That's the real worry here, not a change in how well your cancer treatment works. This is based on theory plus some reports of EKG changes with ephedra, so it isn't fully proven, but the stakes are high enough to take it seriously. Ephedra is also banned in U.S. supplements. Please don't use it, and check with your oncology team or pharmacist about safer choices.

Here's the concern with this pair: Entrectinib (Rozlytrek) can stress your liver as part of its known side effects, and ephedra-containing products have been tied to many reports of liver injury too. Put them together and you may be doubling up on that same risk. This isn't about one speeding up or slowing down the other; it's that both can be hard on the liver at the same time.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how each behaves, not proven cases of the two combined. Still, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements and carries real dangers like high blood pressure and stroke on its own. Watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, or belly pain, and please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before mixing anything new with your cancer treatment.

What Is Entrectinib Used For?

Brand name: Rozlytrek

Rozlytrek is used to treat adult patients with ROS1-positive metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — a type of lung cancer where the ROS1 gene is rearranged — as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.

Rozlytrek is also approved for adult and pediatric patients older than 1 month with solid tumors that have an NTRK gene fusion (a specific genetic alteration), detected by an FDA-approved test, that have spread or cannot be removed without causing serious harm, and have worsened after prior treatment or have no good treatment alternatives. This NTRK indication was granted accelerated approval based on tumor response rates; continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory trials.
