Here's the concern with pairing these two. Fostamatinib (Tavalisse) can raise your liver enzymes, and your doctor actually checks those labs while you're on it. Ephedra has its own track record of liver injury, with real cases reported over the years. Put them together and the worry is that the stress on your liver could add up.

I'll be honest about how solid this is: it's a theoretical concern based on how each one behaves, not something proven in studies of the two combined. Still, ephedra is banned in U.S. supplements for good reason, so I wouldn't go looking for it anyway. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor about safer, approved choices for whatever you were hoping ephedra would help with.

What Is Fostamatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tavalisse

Tavalisse (fostamatinib) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — dangerously low platelet counts — in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It is specifically for people whose platelet counts have not improved enough with at least one earlier ITP treatment.

The goal is to raise platelet counts high enough to reduce the risk of serious bleeding. If platelet counts do not respond sufficiently after 12 weeks, the medication is typically stopped.
