Here's the simple version. Pergolide is an ergot-type medicine that was used for Parkinson's disease, and like other ergot drugs it can tighten up your blood vessels a bit. Ephedra brings its own stimulant punch through ephedrine, which also squeezes blood vessels and revs up the heart. Put the two together and those effects can stack, so the real worry is a spike in blood pressure, along with a faster or pounding heartbeat and headache.

To be fair, this is largely a theoretical concern based on how these two work, not a flood of case reports. But ephedra is already banned in U.S. supplements for safety reasons, so the safest move is to steer clear of it entirely. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything here.
