Valbenazine Tosylate falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Ephedra interacts with.

Theoretically, ephedra might have an additive effect with drugs that prolong the QT interval.
Even in healthy volunteers, EKG changes including prolonged QT interval and premature atrial contractions have been reported with ingestion of recommended doses of ephedra. Ephedra may have an additive effect with drugs that prolong the QT interval. This may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias.

Here's the thing to know about pairing these two. Ingrezza (valbenazine) can stretch out the heart's electrical reset time, something we call the QT interval. Ephedra is a strong stimulant that can also nudge the QT interval and stir up irregular heartbeats, even at recommended doses in healthy people. Put them together and those effects can stack up, which raises the risk of a dangerous heart rhythm.

What might that feel like? Palpitations, a racing or skipping heartbeat, dizziness, or fainting. This concern is based on theory plus some lower-quality evidence, so it's not a sure thing, but the stakes are high enough that I'd steer clear. Ephedra is actually banned in U.S. supplements anyway. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything with Ingrezza.

What Is Valbenazine Used For?

Brand name: Ingrezza

Valbenazine — sold as Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle — is approved for two conditions in adults. The first is tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder that causes uncontrolled, repetitive facial or body movements, often brought on by long-term use of certain psychiatric medications. The second is chorea associated with Huntington's disease, which refers to the involuntary, dance-like jerking movements that are a hallmark of that condition.

Both Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle are approved for both of these uses.
