Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: your albuterol inhaler (ProAir Respiclick) is a quick-relief medicine that opens your airways, but it can also rev up your heart a little, leaving you feeling jittery, shaky, or noticing a faster or pounding heartbeat. Green coffee carries caffeine, which is also a stimulant. So stacking the two could add up and make those heart-related and jittery effects a bit stronger.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's a theoretical concern based on how both work, not something proven in studies. Everyday cups of coffee likely won't be a problem, but concentrated green coffee supplements deliver more caffeine. If you use albuterol often or feel your heart racing, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before adding the supplement.

About Green Coffee

What is Green Coffee?

Green Coffee
  • Weight loss
  • High blood pressure
  • Blood sugar control
  • Antioxidant support
  • General energy

Green coffee is the unroasted bean of the coffee plant, prized for its high chlorogenic acid content. Some early studies suggest modest benefits for weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It contains caffeine, so people sensitive to stimulants should use caution and check with a pharmacist or doctor first.
