Selegiline falls under MONOAMINE OXIDASE INHIBITORS (MAOIs) — the group Green Coffee interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the risk of a hypertensive crisis.
Green coffee can contain caffeine. Caffeine has been shown to inhibit monoamine oxidase (MAO) A and B in laboratory studies. Concomitant intake of large amounts of caffeine with MAOIs might precipitate a hypertensive crisis.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with selegiline and green coffee. Selegiline blocks an enzyme called monoamine oxidase, and the caffeine in green coffee may add to that blocking effect a little. The bigger concern is that caffeine itself is a stimulant. Stacking a stimulant on top of an MAO-B inhibitor could, in theory, nudge your blood pressure up and possibly trigger a sharp spike (what's called a hypertensive crisis), with symptoms like a pounding headache, racing heart, or feeling flushed.

I'll be honest, this is mostly a theoretical worry based on how these compounds behave, not strong human data, and a normal cup of coffee is unlikely to cause trouble. But concentrated green coffee supplements can pack more caffeine. Before adding one, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Selegiline Used For?

Selegiline is used as an add-on treatment for people with Parkinson's disease who are already taking levodopa/carbidopa but are finding that the medication's effects are wearing off or becoming less reliable. It is not used alone — it only works as part of a combination approach.

In clinical studies, adding selegiline helped reduce the amount of daily levodopa needed, cut down on "off" time (periods when symptoms break through), and improved things like tremor, speech, movement, and overall daily function.
