Green coffee can contain caffeine. Phenothiazines can reduce the metabolism of caffeine by inhibiting cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2).

Here's the gist with this pairing: prochlorperazine can mildly slow down an enzyme in your liver (called CYP1A2) that helps clear caffeine. Since green coffee supplements contain caffeine, the caffeine may hang around a little longer than usual. That could mean more of the jittery side: a faster heartbeat, feeling wired, trouble sleeping, or some restlessness. To be clear, prochlorperazine itself is not a prodrug, so it still works normally. The supplement's caffeine is the part that may build up, not your medication's nausea or antipsychotic effect.

Honestly, this one is rated minor and rests only on lab-type evidence, so for most folks it isn't a big deal. Still, if you notice extra jitters or a racing heart, lower the caffeine and check with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Prochlorperazine Used For?

Brand names: Prochlor, Compazine

Prochlorperazine is used across several forms and products to control severe nausea and vomiting in adults. It is also used to treat schizophrenia. Prochlorperazine tablets (Prochlorperazine, Prochlorperazine Maleate) are additionally approved for the short-term treatment of generalized non-psychotic anxiety — though they are not the first-choice treatment for anxiety, given their risk profile.

Compro rectal suppositories and Prochlorperazine rectal suppositories are specifically indicated for controlling severe nausea and vomiting in adults. Prochlorperazine Edisylate injection is approved for severe nausea and vomiting and for schizophrenia, but it is not approved for dementia-related psychosis.
