Here's the simple version: green coffee naturally carries some caffeine, and verapamil slows down how your body clears caffeine. Studies suggest verapamil can raise caffeine levels by about 25 percent. So the verapamil isn't the problem here, it's the caffeine sticking around longer than usual.

What might you notice? The usual signs of too much caffeine, like feeling jittery, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling anxious. This is a theoretical concern based on how the two interact, not strong real-world proof, so don't panic. A small cup probably won't bother most people, but a concentrated green coffee supplement gives a bigger caffeine dose. If you feel wired or your heart races, check with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Verapamil falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Green Coffee interacts with.

Theoretically, taking green coffee with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical studies have shown that green coffee extract decreases blood pressure. When used with antihypertensive drugs, green coffee might have additive blood pressure-lowering effects. However, this has not been shown in clinical research.

Here's the simple version: verapamil already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels and easing the heart's workload. Green coffee extract has shown a modest blood pressure lowering effect of its own in some studies. So when you stack the two, the worry is that they could nudge your pressure down a little more than expected.

This is rated minor and mostly theoretical, so for most people it won't cause real trouble. Still, if your pressure dips too low you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or notice your heartbeat slowing. A casual cup of coffee likely won't matter, but concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question. Before adding a green coffee supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you already feel woozy.

About Verapamil

What Is Verapamil Used For?

Brand names: Isoptin SR, Verelan, Isoptin, Calan SR, Verelan SR, Calan, Covera HS, Verap, Veramil

Verapamil tablets and film-coated tablets are used to treat angina — including vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina, unstable angina, and chronic stable angina — as well as certain abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and high blood pressure (essential hypertension). For arrhythmias, regular-release tablets are used alongside digoxin to control heart rate in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation, and to help prevent episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a type of rapid heartbeat.

Extended-release and sustained-release oral forms (tablets and capsules) are indicated specifically for high blood pressure. Verapamil hydrochloride injection is used in hospital settings for rapid conversion of SVT to normal rhythm and for temporary control of fast heart rates in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation.
