Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS
Why this applies to Levofloxacin
Levofloxacin falls under QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Green Coffee interacts with.
Green coffee can contain caffeine. Concomitant use of quinolones can decrease caffeine clearance and increase effects and risk of adverse effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about pairing green coffee with levofloxacin: it's really the caffeine in green coffee that matters here, not the antibiotic getting changed. Levofloxacin can slow down how fast your body clears caffeine, so that caffeine tends to hang around longer and hit harder.
In plain terms, you might feel more of the usual caffeine effects, like jitteriness, a racing heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling on edge. This is rated as a minor, theoretical interaction, so most people won't run into trouble, especially with small amounts. If you take a concentrated green coffee supplement or you're sensitive to stimulants, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor while you're on this antibiotic.

About Green Coffee
What is Green Coffee?
- Weight loss
- High blood pressure
- Blood sugar control
- Antioxidant support
- General energy
Green coffee is the unroasted bean of the coffee plant, prized for its high chlorogenic acid content. Some early studies suggest modest benefits for weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It contains caffeine, so people sensitive to stimulants should use caution and check with a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Levofloxacin
What Is Levofloxacin Used For?
Brand names: Levaquin, Levaquin Injection, Leva-pak
Levofloxacin treats bacterial infections in adults, including pneumonia (both community-acquired and hospital-acquired), skin infections, urinary tract infections, kidney infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis, and sinus infections. It is also used after exposure to inhalational anthrax and for plague.
Because levofloxacin carries significant risks, it should only be used for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute bacterial worsening of chronic bronchitis, and acute bacterial sinusitis when no other treatment option is available. Always use it only for infections confirmed or strongly suspected to be bacterial.
