Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to keep in mind with these two together. The combination product you're asking about contains phenylephrine, a decongestant that mildly stimulates the body, while the guaifenesin part just loosens mucus and isn't the concern here. Green coffee naturally carries caffeine, which is also a stimulant. Stacking two stimulant-type ingredients can add up.

When that happens, you may notice more of the typical stimulant effects: a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, restlessness, or a bump in blood pressure. This is largely a theoretical concern based on expert opinion, not strong studies, so it's not something to panic over. Still, if you're sensitive to caffeine or have high blood pressure, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

About Green Coffee

What is Green Coffee?

Green Coffee
  • Weight loss
  • High blood pressure
  • Blood sugar control
  • Antioxidant support
  • General energy

Green coffee is the unroasted bean of the coffee plant, prized for its high chlorogenic acid content. Some early studies suggest modest benefits for weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It contains caffeine, so people sensitive to stimulants should use caution and check with a pharmacist or doctor first.
