Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pair: Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan) is already a sedating medicine. As a benzodiazepine, it calms brain activity, so it can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, or unsteady on its own. Rauvolfia vomitoria appears to have its own calming, sedative effect, at least in animal studies, so layering the two together could deepen that drowsiness.

What that might look like in real life is more sleepiness than usual, slower thinking, dizziness, or feeling off-balance. To be fair, this concern is theoretical and based on pharmacology, not on strong human studies, so I don't want to alarm you. Still, before combining them, please check with your doctor or pharmacist, especially since this herb can also strongly affect blood pressure and mood.

What Is Clobazam Used For?

Clobazam is used as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment for seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a severe form of childhood-onset epilepsy. It is approved for patients 2 years of age and older.

This indication applies to all available forms: Sympazan (dissolving oral film), Onfi (tablets and oral suspension), and generic clobazam tablets and oral suspension.
