Here's the simple version: both of these can make you drowsy, so using them together may pile that effect up. Rauvolfia vomitoria has calming, sedative properties (mostly shown in animal studies), and even though cetirizine is one of the less sleepy antihistamines, it can still cause tiredness in some people. Stack them and you might feel more foggy, sluggish, or sleepy than expected.

Cetirizine isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about one changing the other's blood levels. It's just two things that can slow you down at the same time. The evidence here is theoretical, so I wouldn't panic, but I'd be careful about driving or doing anything that needs focus. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first, since rauvolfia is a potent plant on its own.

What Is Cetirizine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Cetirizine, Zyrtec, Quzyttir

Quzyttir (cetirizine injection) is approved to treat acute urticaria — a sudden outbreak of hives — in adults and in children 6 months of age and older. It is given by intravenous (IV) injection in a medically supervised setting.

Quzyttir is not recommended for children under 6 years of age who have impaired kidney or liver function.
